Which branding agency is the best fit for you?
Branding in Switzerland is a premium market. Swiss brands enjoy a high level of trust internationally (the Swissness effect), and expectations of brand identity, visual consistency and perceived quality are correspondingly high. A strong brand identity is not a nice-to-have for Swiss companies but a strategic competitive advantage, especially in the premium, luxury, pharma and finance verticals.
This hub page brings together the strongest branding agencies from ten German-speaking Swiss cities. Each city has its own emphasis: Zurich premium and corporate brands, Basel pharma and cultural branding, Biel watches and luxury goods, Zug crypto and international holdings. Only providers with branding and brand identity as a core discipline are listed, from the brand agency with a strategy focus to the corporate design specialist. Modern branding does not stop at the logo: digital brand management, the website presence, social media and marketing campaigns are now part of the standard offering for most Swiss branding agencies, as are rebranding and digital brand transformation. On this page you can find and compare suitable providers for your branding project, from strategy through to execution.
The platform currently lists German-speaking Swiss providers (Romandie and Ticino are on the roadmap). mmesh.ai is neutral, free of charge and takes no commission.

The German-speaking Swiss branding market comprises over 200 specialised agencies plus many solo designers and smaller studios. Geographically it is concentrated in Zurich (40-45 per cent), Basel (15 per cent) and Bern (8-10 per cent), with the rest spread across Lucerne, Zug, St. Gallen, Biel and Winterthur.
Structurally, four categories dominate: premium branding agencies with corporate mandates (Zurich, Basel), vertical specialists (pharma in Basel, watches in Biel, luxury goods in Zurich), mid-market branding agencies with a broader SME focus, and solo designers for clearly scoped tasks.
For SMEs, mid-market branding agencies or specialised boutiques are usually the right choice. Premium houses make sense from CHF 50'000+ engagement volume. Solo designers for pure logo work or small identity tasks.
Six typical branding sub-disciplines.
Brand workshop, value proposition, competitive differentiation. CHF 10'000-50'000 project-based.
Brand names, slogans, tone of voice, language manual. CHF 5'000-30'000.
Logo concept, variants, applications. CHF 1'500-15'000, solo designer to premium studio.
A complete visual identity: colours, typography, imagery, graphic elements, applications. CHF 8'000-50'000.
Brand guidelines document, templates, training, application roll-out. CHF 5'000-30'000.
Packaging design, store concepts, touchpoint design, physical brand applications. CHF 10'000-100'000+.
Swiss branding fees vary with scope and ambition. Logo design alone CHF 1'500-15'000 (solo designer to premium studio). A complete visual identity (logo, colour system, typography, imagery, applications) CHF 8'000-50'000. A full brand strategy with positioning, naming, brand manual and roll-out CHF 30'000-200'000+. A brand refresh or rebranding CHF 15'000-150'000.
Hourly rates range regionally from CHF 110 to 280, with premium studios in Zurich and Basel at CHF 250-350. Pharma branding with a compliance surcharge often runs at CHF 200-300. Production costs for brand applications (print templates, packaging, stores) come on top.
What you should avoid as an SME: handing a logo mandate to a corporate branding agency. The structures do not fit. For pure logo work under CHF 5'000, an experienced solo designer is almost always the more efficient choice.
Three tiers. Hourly rates CHF 110-350 depending on specialisation.
Logo plus basic identity (colours, typography, simple applications). For founders, small SMEs, local brands. Solo designer or small studio.
A full visual identity with brand manual, applications and roll-out support. Established boutique branding agency.
Strategy, naming, complete identity, roll-out across all touchpoints, multi-country adaptation. Premium branding agency.
First question: brand build or brand refresh? A build (new brand, new company, new subsidiary) needs full strategy plus identity. A refresh (modernising an existing brand, repositioning) is more tactical and needs sensitivity for existing equity. The two briefs have different fee and phase structures.
Second question: vertical match. Swiss branding agencies often specialise by vertical: pharma (Basel), watches and luxury goods (Biel/Geneva), corporate brands (Zurich), food and FMCG (Lucerne), tech and SaaS (Zurich/Zug). An agency fluent in the language of your vertical delivers deeper results.
Look at concrete brand cases, ideally with before-and-after comparisons, application examples and impact data (brand awareness before/after, shifts in market position). Awards are not the most reliable indicator. Concrete brand impact in comparable contexts says more.
Points 1, 3 and 6 matter most.
Six typical constellations.
New Swiss companies. Logo plus basic identity. Boutique or solo designer. CHF 5'000-15'000.
Roche, Novartis, smaller pharma hubs. Specialised pharma branding agency in Basel. CHF 50'000-300'000.
Watches, jewellery, premium fashion. Specialised premium boutique. CHF 40'000-200'000.
Software companies, tech spin-offs. Mid-market branding with tech understanding. CHF 25'000-100'000.
Destinations, hotels, mountain railways. Branding with a focus on imagery. CHF 30'000-150'000.
Federal offices, cantons, associations, foundations. Bern public sector branding. CHF 30'000-200'000.
